addams-family-logo-722703

The Addams Family is a group of fictional characters created by American cartoonist Charles Addams. As named by Charles Addams, the Addams Family characters include Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Lurch, Grandmama, Wednesday, Pugsley, Pubert Addams and Thing.

The Addamses are a satirical inversion of the ideal American family; an eccentric, wealthy clan who delight in the macabre and are unaware that people find them bizarre or frightening. They originally appeared as an unrelated group of 150 single panel cartoons, about half of which were originally published in The New Yorker between debuting in 1938 and Addams’ 1988 death. They have since been adapted to other media, including television series (both live and animated), films, video games and a musical. ( c/o Wikipedia )

If I’m honest the main reason I finally got around to seeing the show was my love of musical. I dont know anything about the movie and whats it all about.  Wth my regular visit to sistic.com.sg i notice that theres a new musical being staged and decided to give it a try. I just purchased the ticket a seat from the back i dont need a very near seat just to watch.

All i can say is that the play is energetic. The cast are very natural & have a great talent. The dance performace was UH-Mazing and i can see some ladies dancing on their assigned seats, clapping and singing at the same time.

Not bad after all.

I didnt know theres a musical Annie. I just knew the movie so i got a little excited and  interested on how will they bring it on stage.

IMG_1799

The cast shined completely. The little children expertly steal the show with their teeming exuberance. Annie’s staggering level of nurtured talent and energy is impressive. All of their enthusiasm overflows from the stage onto an audience that is equally delighted and awed.

The music is engaging and catchy, and the costumes boast an admirable pragmatism.

It is two-and-a-half hours of vibrant, good-natured fun surely  enchant me. I can bet your bottom dollar you’ll enjoy it too.

I really dont know how to start….. OK. here it goes……….

THIS IS MY FAVORITE MUSICAL OF ALL TIME!!!!!  I memorized the libretto and  i can be the understudy of any character in this play anytime to say the least…. i just dont know if i can sing the part of Elphaba on Defying Gravity …..  its tooo esophagus wrecking.

Wicked is the story behind the witches of Oz whom Dorothy encounters in the book (or film) the Wizard of Oz. It’s based on the friendship between Glinda (the good witch) and Elphaba (who becomes the wicked witch of the west).

I was so excited to see this for the first time i was even humming the song defying gravity while going to my assigned seat . I expected this musical to be phenomenal and it was!

The STAGE is magnificent! It is huge with a mechanical dragon on top of it which occassionally  roars.   And what do you expect when we talk about witches…………….. they fly……. GLINDA entering and exiting stage with a bubble. Elphaba belting out Defyig Gravity elevated in a broom-stick.

All of the ensemble looked stunning in their fancy costumes. Dancing was flawless….. but who will ever forget the singing.

I sooo love Defying Gravity i know the script word for word.  I really like the verses of this song, and when Elphaba gets to the choruses, it feels like she’s taking refuge in the words ‘defying gravity’, she looks all serene and happy. Their duet part was very good, their chemistry came across very well.

My favorite part of the song with all the drums and musical instrument rocking the house down!!!

And it you care to find me look to the western sky

As someone told me lately :

“Everyone deserves the chance to fly”

And if im flying solo

Atleast iam flying free

To those who ground me

Take a message back from me

Tell them how i am

Defying Gravity!!!

Im flying high Defying Gravity

And soon ill match them in renown

And no body in all of OZ

No Wizard that there is or was

Is ever gonna bring me down!

My favorite song ,It is the climax, and one of the most well-known songs of the show. It is reprised as part of the show’s finale……  ” FOR GOOD ” .

Wicked is so cleverly created.  How  they explained some of the development of the characters from that story was really ingenious. And the ending ..oh my!!!!!!!!!!! I was so taken by suprise by the ending. I didnt see it coming. I just got really caught up with the show, and isn’t that what a good show is all about?

Well it was my first musical evaaaar.
At first i dont know what to expect. I like the movie a lot specially the part where Mufasa’s spirit appears in the sky and tells Simba he is the one true king and must take his place in the Circle of Life.

i started watching the lion king movie again. Just to make sure i don’t forget any important scenes. Through out the movie i keep thinking will i be subjected to a well-worn, simplistic children’s tale about a lion cub’s hard road to adulthood? Will i be harangued by second-rate standard-show music? Is it worth it?

YES INDEED!!!!!! The show’s 2 hours and 40 minutes will definetly tranport you to the  animal kingdom where you can see a herd of veldt-skimming gazelles, wildebeests and laughing hyenas. There are plenty of breath-taking beauty  and scenic ingenuity. And not to mention how they were able to pull the  African Savannah setting off on a stage! AMAZING!

And how can i forget the magnificent costumes which features mechanical headpieces that can be raised and lowered to foster the illusion of a cat “lunging” at another. Perfect puppetry!!!

Lion King Stage (Marina Bay Sands – Sands Theater )

Great Music.

I love when Simba belt out the song “I just cant wait to be King”.

And  Timon and Pumbaa’s upbeat and catchy song HAKUNA MATATA.

The best and unforgettable scene was the Circle of life.

There is simply nothing else like it.
